SUMo v1.4 - Keep Your Software Updated For Free

[BloGate link] Autor: Johnny Karp Blog profile: Best Freeware Category: technology

I always try to keep everything in my computer up to date: drivers and software. I recently reviewed a driver updating freeware, now it's time for a program that keeps your software up to date. This freeware is called SUMo (Software Update Monitor) and they say it can track your software updates easily. Let's see how it works. The setup package is only 1.1 MB, so you're in for a quick download. The installation process took me less than a minute to complete. After you launch the program you'll see a wizard screen where you can choose to let the program automatically scan your computer to find installed software. The scan process doesn't take very long. From what I've noticed the program scans everything under a "Program Files" folder and the Windows "System 32" folder. I think it also scans the registry, but I might be wrong about that. After a couple of minutes the program showed me a list of the installed software in my computer. If the list isn't complete you can manually add more programs by pointing the application to the executable file of the respective software. You can pick which programs you want to be checked for updates and wait until SUMo finds the new stuff. It found updates for various programs in my computer. Let's check out the Winamp update. If you click "Get Update" the internet browser window pops up, loading a page which points you to where the wanted update is.Just one click and I'm on Winamp's download page, and another click and the update is on the road to my computer.Overall I think this freeware is a good one to have, because the various software in your computer won't update if you don't use them very frequently. And when you need to use them maybe you're not in the mood for downloading and installing an update. I plan to use SUMo once every month maybe to keep my software up to date. You can download it from here, it's free!Want another software from the same category? European Continent slowly giving in to Islam

[BloGate link] Autor: Alexandra H. Anderson Blog profile: Alexandra H. Anderson Category: personal blogs

Scary....it always starts with small steps. If you move to another country, obey its laws...or move back! Little by little, Mark Steyn’s dark predictions about western civilization surrendering to Islam are coming true.Daily Mail reported yesterday that the most senior judge in England yesterday gave his blessing to the use of sharia law to resolve disputes among Muslims.Lord Chief Justice Lord Phillips said that Islamic legal principles could be employed to deal with family and marital arguments and to regulate finance. He declared: ‘Those entering into a contractual agreement can agree that the agreement shall be governed by a law other than English law.’In his speech at an East London mosque, Lord Phillips signalled approval of sharia principles as long as punishments - and divorce rulings - complied with the law of the land. But his remarks, which back the informal sharia courts operated by numerous mosques, provoked a barrage of criticism.Lawyers warned that family and marital disputes settled by sharia could disadvantage women or the vulnerable.Low European birthrates combined with Islamic immigrants (required to pay for the unsustainable Ponzi-scheme social programs) with high birthrates portend a grim future unless immigrants assimilate in a meaningful way. Helping them set up separate religious courts is no help.

Facial Acupuncture for Wrinkles?

[BloGate link] Autor: easygoodhealth Blog profile: Easy good health and beauty tips Category: health

Here’s a point worth considering: if you want to prevent wrinkles, visit your friendly neighborhood acupuncturist. Promoters of facial acupuncture claim this procedure can literally take years off your face since it eliminates facial lines, eye bags, and other skin problems. Known for its pain-relieving properties, acupuncture is also widely used in China to prevent the onset of wrinkles. Proponents say regular treatments can stimulate the flow of blood and energy through the skin and delay... [[ This is a content summary only. I Just Signed Up for Pay Per Post!

[BloGate link] Autor: Johnny Karp Blog profile: Best Freeware Category: technology

Hello, folks! I recently discovered PayPerPost, an opportunity for me as a blogger to earn some cash while writing about stuff that I find interesting. You all know that I'm not writing about stuff that I don't test honestly, so that's what I intend to do with the PayPerPost membership too. I found PayPerPost accidentaly, while browsing through some of the blogs that I read. I don't remember the exact blog, but I remember that the website that was reviewed in the sponsored post that I read was really great. What I liked about PayPerPost is that they have a strict ethical code: you have tell your readers that a post is sponsored and if the advertiser requires you not to do that, he'll be in trouble. I really like that.I intend to write only about stuff that I think would be useful for you, and get some money in the process. I don't believe I'll get rich with PayPerPost, but maybe I could get enough to pay for hosting and a domain for this blog. I really don't have a plan, like to post one sponsored article every day or stuff like that. I won't turn this blog into a "money machine". I think I'll just grab some opportunity from time to time. Until then, have a good time with the freeware that I'll be reviewing from now on.If you want more info about it you can check out the blog ads on the marketplace. When you'll see this blue badge you'll know that the post is sponsored ;)Check the site for the latest articles: Best Freeware Blog

Obama has a huge problem

[BloGate link] Autor: Alexandra H. Anderson Blog profile: Alexandra H. Anderson Category: personal blogs

ABC News:There’s been lots of speculation this week about whether Sen. Barack Obama has an Iraq problem. He does now.His comments Thursday, saying that he will “continue to refine” his plan to withdraw combat troops from Iraq inside of 16 months, seems likely to leave the campaign on the defensive on this issue for days or weeks. And it increases the likelihood that his trip to Iraq later this month will not turn out like Obama wants it to.There will be only one relevant question now out of Obama’s trip now: Do you stand by your plan? Obama is unlikely to give a direct, yes-or-no answer — and that’s where Sen. John McCain and his allies can and will pounce.Obama has almost always built in some wiggle room into his proposal — including promises to consult with commanders on the ground — but surely not always. For point of reference, go to Obama’s own campaign Website:“Obama will immediately begin to remove our troops from Iraq. He will remove one to two combat brigades each month, and have all of our combat brigades out of Iraq within 16 months. Obama will make it clear that we will not build any permanent bases in Iraq. He will keep some troops in Iraq to protect our embassy and diplomats; if al Qaeda attempts to build a base within Iraq, he will keep troops in Iraq or elsewhere in the region to carry out targeted strikes on al Qaeda.”That’s pretty unequivocal.Obama’s migration to the political center has been well-documented, and is already a frame McCain is building around his candidacy. But Iraq — this is qualitatively different, an issue that lives on a higher plane, since opposing the war was the rationale for his candidacy in the first place.

3 Day Face Lift - What is it and Does it Work?

[BloGate link] Autor: easygoodhealth Blog profile: Easy good health and beauty tips Category: health

If you have been looking in the mirror and thinking about a face lift, you might worry about the pain, the cost, the long recovery time. What you might not know is there are options for you that shorten the time it takes to get the benefits of a face lift and that can either provide no recovery time or a very short period of recovery. There are two ways to enjoy the benefit of a three-day face lift: either surgically, or through diet. Let's look at the nutritional method first. 1. Three-day... [[ This is a content summary only. Largest reenlistment ceremony in the history of the American military

[BloGate link] Autor: Alexandra H. Anderson Blog profile: Alexandra H. Anderson Category: personal blogs

BobKrum.com:While most Americans probably slept, 1,215 Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines raised their right hands and committed to a combined 5,500 years of additional service during the largest reenlistment ceremony in the history of the American military. Beneath a large American flag which dwarfed even the enormous chandelier that Saddam Hussein had built for the Al Faw Palace, members of all services, representing all 50 states took the oath administered by Gen. David Petraeus, Commander of Multi-National Forces Iraq.Petraeus, reiterating earlier remarks made by Command Sergeant Major Hill, said that the unprecedented ceremony sends a “message to friend and foe alike.” He told those assembled that it is “impossible to calculate the value of what you are giving to our country . . . For no bonus, no matter the size, can adequately compensate you for the contribution each of you makes as a custodian of our nation’s defenses.”Last year Gen. Petraeus, along with Senator John McCain, presided over a similar Independence Day ceremony. Then only 588 servicemen reenlisted. This year’s event, more than twice as large, saw the equivalent of two battalions extend their service in America’s military. Nearly the entire rotunda was filled with reenlisting servicemen, their voices drowning out all other noise. For two days the military members, flown in for the occasion from all across Iraq, have toured the elaborate palace where Saddam’s sons were said to have entertained friends lavishly and tortured enemies mercilessly in the basement dungeon. Following the ceremony, they were treated to Chicago deep dish pizza donated by Lou Malnati’s Restaurant and flown fresh by DHL for the occasion.

Super-democracy!

[BloGate link] Autor: Shan-ul-Hai Blog profile: Shan Category: politic

Two hundred and thirty-two years ago today, Thomas Jefferson announced the Americans’ future right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”  But people often forget the next part of the Declaration of Independence, where he states “that to preserve these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just power from the consent of the governed. The term “consent of the governed,” unfortunately, was never defined.  Does it mean that everybody has to agree to the government?  Or that more than half of the people have to agree?  Or just that the people have the right to get rid of a government if we want?  Jefferson, of course, was insinuating a majority-rule democracy… but is that the only way to make it work? As many of you already know, we don’t live in a truly democratic society.  In a true democracy, there would be no President or Congress… every decision would be made by majority rule.  There’s no way for us to make that work in such a big country, so we go for the closest thing we can: a representative democracy where we spend half of our time worrying about elections and the other half complaining about how our favorite candidate didn’t get elected.  So, I thought about it… is there any other way? Well, I couldn’t think of anything good.  But I did think of an option that might work: What if we just had official monthly approval ratings for our leaders?  Instead of doing the usual elections, we could require everybody to take an hour every six months to decide whether or not they approve of the current President or congressman or mayor or governor.  When the approval ratings drop below a given number (say, 40%), then it’s time for an election.  If the people are happy with their leader, then we don’t need to waste time replacing him.  That way, he won’t have to waste all of this time campaigning as long as he’s doing a goo ...

Ahhhrange nails

[BloGate link] Autor: Laarni Blog profile: Laarnay Category: relationship

I know it has been raining and summer is over but out of the four, I put on neon orange. However, I noticed that nails chipped so fast — just lasted for a day or I was just careless. But well, for me cheap means temporary, unlike expensive - like real love, it’s forever. Naks! What am I talking about? Anyway, it is always fine to mix things up a bit, like now, I have my very own summery nails. __ Do you know that one can always find a best buy at www.buy.com, yep, now you know.
