La etapa de ayer del Tour de Francia fue una de las más espectaculares, pasaron muchas cosas, casi todas agradables para el ciclismo, excepto las múltiples caidas provocada por la ligera lluvia. Una de estas caídas afectó al campeón del Tour 06, Óscar Pereiro, que en una de las curvas del descenso del col de Agnel. El ciclista del equipo Caisse D'Epargne chocó contra una barrera de protección, pasó por encima de la misma y se precipitó por un barranco, donde fue frenado por la vegetación.Afortunadamente no llegó a perder la consciencia en ningún momento y fue trasladado al hospital más próximo. La espectacular caída provocó que el pelotón, que marchaba con el equipo del líder, Cadel Evans (Silence), al frente, se frenara durante unos kilómetros, hasta que a través de los auriculares recibió noticias tranquilizadoras. Pereiro se encontraba clasificado en el decimoquinto puesto de la general a 6.01 del líder, el australiano Cadel Evans.Finalmente la lesión más grave es una fractura de húmero según confirmó el médico del equipo Caisse d''Epargne, Jesús Hoyos.
